Conscious Crowdsourcing – heard of it? Well, this week, the Social Impact team at Weber Shandwick launched a new report focusing on this topic.
In our view, Conscious Crowdsourcing is the practice of crowdsourcing to generate awareness of, actions for, or solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges.
By capitalising on both social media to encourage participation and collective efforts to create new technologies, this process has accelerated and scaled considerably over the last few decades.
However, there is a difference between “conscious” and everyday crowdsourcing. Conscious Crowdsourcing focuses on gathering information, ideas and actions that contribute to social progress.
So how can organisations strategically engage, equip and empower change-makers, policymakers and global citizens? In addition to analysis and insights, this report provides a roadmap and action plan to guide conscious crowdsourcing efforts.
The six-step roadmap is a starting point for organisations across practices to create strategies that spark conversations and engage different stakeholders.
The Conscious Crowdsourcing report also explores recent social movements – from the Arab Spring to the Global Women’s March – and offers perspective on the opportunity to channel the passion, ideas and actions of mobilised global citizens into organised, efficient and transparent multi-sector efforts that advance social progress.
